Northeast College of Health Sciences was prominently recognized at the New York State Chiropractic Association (NYSCA) Spring 2026 Convention, including multiple members of the College community receiving top honors.
According to a press release, the NYSCA convention, held in conjunction with the Connecticut Chiropractic Association, took place April 17–19, 2026, at Mohegan Sun Casino and Hotel in Uncasville, Connecticut. Eight Northeast chiropractic students and two faculty members attended the weekend of educational and social events, which brought together professionals and students from across New York for learning, connection and professional development. The program featured a student-doctor panel on real-world practice insights, 16 hours of continuing education and multiple opportunities for networking.
During the event, Northeast College President Michael Mestan, DC, EdD, was awarded a Commendation for Distinguished Service, while Northeast Levittown Health Center Clinician and Assistant Professor Lloyd Kupferman, DC, earned the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Additional Northeast honorees included alumna Kaila Markland, DC, immediate past Student NYSCA chapter president, who received the Student Leadership Award; alumna Abigail Riutta, DC, recipient of the New Practitioner Award; and alumnus James Walters, DC, named Chiropractor of the Year.
