July 19, 2012 — Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, scientific advisor to Dr. Andrew Weil, will give a presentation based on her latest book, “Life is Your Best Medicine,” (National Geographic/Aug. 2012) at Natural Products Expo East Sept. 22 (9 a.m.) at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Whole food dietary supplement brand, MegaFood is sponsoring the seminar as well as hosting Low Dog at the show. Expo East attendees will have the opportunity to meet her in person during a book signing immediately following the seminar at the MegaFood trade show booth (#4817).
In addition to her extensive experience as a natural medicine clinician and educator, Low Dog has been involved in national health policy and regulatory issues for more than a decade. Former President Bill Clinton appointed Low Dog to the White House Commission of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2000, and then to the Scientific Advisory Board for the National Institutes of Health National Center of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Currently, Low Dog serves as the chief medical officer for Weil Lifestyle, and is the fellowship director for the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, founded by Weil.
“We are honored to bring Dr. Low Dog to Expo East as part of our ongoing effort to connect natural products retailers with leading experts in our industry,” says Robert U. Craven, CEO of MegaFood.
Low Dog’s new book is geared toward women as a guide for health and healing through all seasons of life. She will discuss how to apply simple, integrative approaches to health that help to build a woman’s resilience and contentment with life.
“Both of my grandmothers were strong, independent role models. They have had a tremendous impact in my life and opened my eyes to how our everyday choices impact our health. From the food, vitamins, and herbs that we consume to the music we listen to and words that we speak, everything affects our sense of wellbeing,” says Low Dog. “My hope is that this book unlocks an abundance of health for women of all ages.”
