Life University women’s rugby heads to California with aim to take the crown in final four showdown

Chiropractic Economics Staff May 1, 2018

May 1, 2018—The Life University (LIFE) Running Eagles Women’s Rugby team will face Penn State University in the Women’s D1 Elite Semi-Finals that are being hosted by USA Rugby on Friday, May 4. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. PST/6:00 p.m. EST and will be shown live on TheRugbyChannel.TV.

This is the third year of the D1 Elite Championship for Women’s Rugby, and LIFE’s Semi-Final opponent, the Penn State Nittany Lions, have won the first two in 2016 and 2017. If LIFE defeats Penn State, it would be their first appearance in the D1 Elite National Championship match. LIFE’s Women have won the Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC), an annual Sevens (Olympic-style) rugby tournament hosted in Philadelphia, Penn., for the past two years.

“This is our fourth time heading to the Semi-Finals, and the first time our team has traveled to California,” notes Head Women’s Rugby Coach Rosalind Chou. “We have a really experienced roster this year, and we are prepared to compete this weekend. The fans and support have been amazing this year, and we are honored to represent Life University at the D1 Elite Women’s Championships.”

If the Running Eagles defeat the Nittany Lions, the D1 Elite National Championship will be played the following day on Saturday, May 5 with a start time of 5:45 p.m. PST/8:45 p.m. EST. All games will be played in Titan Stadium on the campus of California State University, Fullerton in Fullerton, Calif. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online here: Women’s Rugby Championship Tickets.
