October 26, 2016 – Life University (LIFE) announces the appointment of Jayme Pendergast as the University’s new Athletic Director, effective November 1, 2016. Pendergast, who came to LIFE in November 2014, served as Director of Athletics Compliance and Support from that date until July 1, 2016, when she was appointed to the position of assistant athletic director for academic support and senior woman administrator. While continuing to serve in that role, Pendergast was named interim athletic director on August 1, 2016.
“Jayme’s commitment and dedication to Life University, LIFE Athletics and most importantly, our student-athletes, is evident in everything she does,” said Rob Scott, Life University provost. “Her experience over the past couple of years within the department and as the assistant athletic director has prepared her for this role, and I’m confident that LIFE Athletics will continue to thrive under her leadership.”
LIFE’s Athletic Department has seen tremendous growth in recent years, adding eight new varsity teams in the past three seasons alone. “I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to be the athletic director at Life University,” said Pendergast. “The Athletic Department has seen a tremendous amount of growth and success recently, and I am excited to continue working with the athletics’ and university staff to provide our student-athletes with the best possible experience. We have a great team of individuals that will continue to push a mission of education and excellence.”
Pendergast received her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Miami University of Ohio before completing her master’s degree in sport psychology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She previously served as Assistant Director of Academic Support for Athletics at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina from August 2008 to January 2014.
