Life Chiropractic College West (LCCW) has named Peter Kevorkian, DC, its fourth president, effective July 1.
Kevorkian, who currently serves as Life West’s vice president of institutional advancement, will succeed Ron Oberstein, DC, FICA, who recently announced his intention to retire after nearly nine years of leadership.
Clinical and academic experience
Kevorkian brings to his new position more than four decades of experience in chiropractic practice and education. A 1982 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, he and his wife, Patti Giuliano, DC, cofounded Westwood Family Chiropractic in Westwood, Massachusetts, where they practiced together for more than 40 years.
In addition to his clinical work, Kevorkian has held several prominent leadership positions in the chiropractic industry. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Sherman College of Chiropractic from 2012 to 2018 and was President of the Board of Directors for the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association from 2012 to 2019.
“Dr. Kevorkian is a dynamic and inspirational leader with a long-standing commitment to educational excellence and accessibility,” said Jimmy Nanda, DC, Chairman of Life West’s Board of Regents. “His forward-thinking mindset and passion for chiropractic will help steer LCCW through a time of exciting transformation and institutional growth. The future has never looked brighter.”
Others in the chiropractic field extended Kevorkian congratulations as well.
“On behalf of the International Chiropractors Association, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Kevorkian on this well-deserved appointment,” said Edwin Cordero, ICA CEO, in a press release. “Dr. Kevorkian’s legacy of leadership, passion for chiropractic and dedication to principled education are unparalleled. Life West has chosen a visionary leader who will uphold its proud legacy and guide it boldly into the future.”
Oberstein to retire in June
Oberstein, who has led Life West since 2017 and graduated from Life University (then called Life Chiropractic College) in 1981, announced his retirement effective June 30.
During his tenure as Life West’s president, he oversaw several advancements, including the opening of a second campus in Bellevue, Nebraska, the introduction of the Clinically Inspired Curriculum and the establishment of the Nexus Brain Center, a brain rehab clinic that focuses on noninvasive treatment options for common neurological conditions. The new Bellevue campus also hosted a first-ever event, Nexus: A Midwest Chiropractic Conference, this spring.
In April, the International Chiropractors Association named Oberstein its 2025 Chiropractor of the Year, an award he received during the ICA’s annual convention in Clearwater, Florida, recognizing his leadership and service.
