Improved Strength and Durability in a Compact, Mobile Format Hallmarks of Ergotron’s New Tablet Management Products

Chiropractic Economics January 29, 2013

Next Generation Tablet Management Carts and Desktop Units Efficiently Transport, Charge, Secure, Protect and Organize Device Deployments

ST. PAUL, MN–(Marketwire – Jan 29, 2013) – The loss of tablets due to theft or damage can be a financial hardship to any organization, especially in large enterprise applications. To address this threat, Ergotron is launching its next generation Tablet Management products. Boasting enhanced security features and accessories including stronger steel construction, the new Tablet Management Carts and Desktop units are designed to manage as well as protect an organization’s tablet investment.

Industry experts estimate that over the next five years shipments of tablets are expected to increase at a CAGR of 48 percent1 with one-third of the 375 million tablets sold in 2016 going to business users2. With the growing use of tablets in the enterprise environments such as education, healthcare, retail, hospitality and corporate settings, there is an increased need for centralized tablet management and security.

“Opportunities to introduce tablets into traditional learning and sales venues are exploding, forcing organizations to rethink traditional means of managing and protecting fleet deployments of these costly devices,” said Pete Segar, interim president of Ergotron. “For many organizations, device management has been an obstacle for large scale adoption. With the new Tablet Management Cart, device management is streamlined and secure — providing peace of mind that their investment is optimally protected, organized and fully charged for duty.”

With capacity configurations of 16, 32 and 48 tablets, Ergotron’s Tablet Management products make managing fleets of tablets possible for any size business. The universal design accommodates up to 48 Apple® iPad®, iPhone®, or iPod® devices — giving organizations a flexible response to future technology changes.

Available with or without LED Individual Status Indicators (ISI), the Tablet Management Cart retains the charging, syncing and mobility functionality of Ergotron’s current Tablet Management products. The units are lightweight, compact and easy to maneuver with one-time customer setup of 30-pin-to-USB or Lightning cables.

Ergotron is also launching a new custom-length, 30-pin-to-USB Cable Kit (97-766). Packaged with 16 cables, the kit is designed to fit Ergotron’s Tablet Management products perfectly and easily connect to Apple mobile devices

Tested and certified to UL 60950-1 and UL 1667 standards, the cart protects the devices on multiple fronts:

  • Ergotron not only uses UL-Certified components but goes a step further to have UL certify the entire system to help guarantee safe use in the classroom, healthcare and enterprise settings;
  • The cart has a ventilated enclosed storage area to keep tablets safe, secure and cool for optimal performance; and
  • In addition to the steel tube and aluminum framework, Tablet Management products feature steel doors and the three-point lock assembly deters theft. When used in conjunction with Ergotron’s new Security Bracket Kit (97-735), organizations realize an additional means to secure the cart to the wall or floor, and the desktop unit to a desk or counter surface.

For those organizations with limited resources or expertise, Ergotron also offers Integration Services for single or multiple unit deployments. Ergotron’s Tablet Management products ship fully assembled and will be available in late February, 2013, in the US and global markets via regional distribution and reseller channels. MSRPs start at US$899. Contact Ergotron for more details on availability.
