Greenleaf Medical AB, Nordic Naturals win NutrAward

March 12, 2013 — Greenleaf Medical AB and Nordic Naturals were both presented with the coveted 2013 NutrAward at Nutracon’s 15th Annual NutrAward reception at the Hilton Anaheim on March 6.

Greenleaf Medical AB and Nordic Naturals were both presented with the coveted 2013 NutrAward at Nutracon’s 15th Annual NutrAward reception at the Hilton Anaheim on March 6.

The NutrAward for best new functional ingredient was presented to Greenleaf Medical AB for its all-natural, spinach extract called Appethyl, which is designed to reduce hunger while also reducing blood glucose levels. Appethyl can be formulated into food and beverages.

The NutrAward for best new finished product was presented to Nordic Naturals for its Nordic Omega-3 Jellies specifically formulated for children ages 2 and above.  Each chewable serving contains 250 milligrams of combined EPA and DHA omega-3 made from purified fish oil, sustainably sourced from anchovies and sardines.

NutrAward winners were determined by a weighted vote from the expert selection committee and registered Nutracon, Engredea and Expo West attendees. Finalists for the best new functional ingredient included: InterHealth’s Meratrim and Probionov’s Lcr35 3Biotic Formulation. Finalists for the best new finished product included: Dole Nutrition Plus’ DOLE Nutrition Plus Chia and Fruit Clusters and SweetLeaf Stevia Sweetener’s SweetLeaf SugarLeaf.
