Getting ICD-10 ready: staff training a key component

Chiropractic Economics Staff February 28, 2014

With the conversion to ICD-10 coming in October, a lot of attention has been placed on the technological challenges of the conversion. However, as a recent article fromstaff-training-eclipse EHRintelligence points out, the “people piece” of the equation is equally important to consider.

As EHRintelligence writer, Jennifer Bresnick, so aptly states, “There are two sides to the ICD-10 coin, and both are equally important to polish up if providers want to see a successful transition on October 1, 2014. On one hand, the technical capabilities to produce, store, transmit, and report on ICD-10 codes is the foundation of the big switch. On the other, the “people piece” of clinical documentation improvement and strong coding knowledge is critical to ensure that providers will get appropriately paid in a timely manner.”

Technology is only of help, after all, if someone knows how to best use it. Is your chiropractic practice ready for the ICD-10? Read the entire article from ERHintelligence here to learn more about what you may want to consider before ICD-10 takes effect.
