George and Elizabeth Goodman honored at Activator Methods conference

Chiropractic Economics August 24, 2012

activator-2--August 24, 2012 — As longtime supporters of the Activator Method Chiropractic Technique, George A. Goodman, DC, FICC, president of Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs, and Elizabeth A. Goodman, DC, PhD, dean of university programs, were recently presented with the Eagle Award at the 45th Anniversary Activator Instructors Training Conference in Phoenix.

The award was a wildlife painting, by renowned artist Mario Fernandez, entitled “Spirit of the Entrepreneur,” which has been given over the past 25 years. The honor was bestowed by Arlan W. Fuhr, DC, co-founder and chief executive officer of Activator Methods International and a 1961 Logan graduate.

The Activator Method, a low-force chiropractic adjustment, has become a widely used chiropractic technique endorsed throughout the chiropractic field and is in use every day by 70 percent of all chiropractors. Today, Activator is taught in nearly every college in the U.S. and abroad, and in professional seminars throughout the year.

“I’ve known Dr. George Goodman for 40 years, and Logan has the longest-running Activator program of any chiropractic college,” said Fuhr. “Dr. Liz Goodman used the Activator in her practice in Kentucky before coming to Logan. Both the Goodmans have been very strong Activator Method supporters for many years.”

Also in attendance at the award presentation were Logan alumnus J.C. Carpenter, DC, a 28-year Logan faculty member who teaches Activator; John J. Triano, DC, PhD, a 1973 Logan graduate and dean of the division of research at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto; Steve Conway, DC, LLD, a 1983 Logan graduate and an attorney who specializes in Medicare issues; Dr. Christophe Dean, an Activator instructor and member of the Logan Board of Trustees; and Lou Sportelli, DC, NCMIC.

In 2008, Fuhr published the second edition of the technique textbook, “The Activator Method,” globally known as the standard reference for instrument adjusting.

Dr. George Goodman has served as president of Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs since January 1993.
