On Aug. 16, at the National Convention and Expo in Orlando, ChiroHealthUSA announced the winner of the Foxworth Family Chiropractic Scholarship: Julie Ludovici Ward, a 10th-quarter student at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
“Receiving this scholarship is a tremendous honor; it feels incredibly validating for all of the perseverance it has taken to get here and the silent battles I’ve faced,” said Ward. “Becoming an emancipated minor in high school after my mom’s battle with brain cancer ended, I have always had to be my own biggest cheerleader and had to grow up much too quickly. This scholarship represents not just financial assistance, but a recognition of my journey and the faith others have in my future as a doctor of chiropractic.”
This year makes the ninth consecutive year a chiropractic student has been awarded the Foxworth Family Chiropractic Scholarship, which consists of a $10,000 scholarship, $5,000 in cash for the student’s expenses plus a $10,000 donation to the student’s chiropractic college. Fully funded by ChiroHealthUSA, this scholarship was established in honor of President Ray Foxworth’s parents, Betty Pace Mathews and Charles Vernon Mathews, both doctors of chiropractic.
“Establishing a scholarship in my parents’ honor was a small way to thank them and the profession that has done so much for me,” Foxworth said. “It is important for me to give back … not only as a tribute to my parents but as an opportunity for chiropractic students to follow in their footsteps.”
“On behalf of the entire Sherman College of Chiropractic community, I extend our congratulations to Julie Ludovici Ward for receiving the 2024 Foxworth Family Scholarship. Julie’s dedication, resilience and commitment to chiropractic care are truly inspiring,” said Jack Bourla, DC, president of Sherman College of Chiropractic, where Ward is a student. “Her journey exemplifies the power of perseverance and the profound impact that dedicated chiropractic professionals can have on their communities. We are proud to support Julie as she advances her education and prepares to make a meaningful contribution in the field as a remarkable representative of the student body at Sherman College.
“Thank you to the Foxworth family for their incredible generosity and unwavering commitment to chiropractic students,” Bourla added. “Your financial support of students enriches their educational journey and inspires a future filled with promise and opportunity. Thank you for making such a profound difference in the lives of so many.”
