Essential Formulas appoints scientific director

Chiropractic Economics September 10, 2014

DrRossFav-WEBSeptember 10, 2013 — Essential Formulas Incorporated (EFI), distributor of Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics and the CHIA OMEGA product line, has hired nationally known wellness expert and pharmacist Ross Pelton, RPh, PhD, CCN, as scientific director.

Pelton began his career as a pharmacist in 1966 with one of America’s largest drug store chains. A University of Wisconsin graduate, he continued his studies in nutrition, fitness and longevity, ultimately earning his certification as a clinical nutritionist (CCN) and a PhD in nutrition.

With years of experience in natural medicine, Pelton is trusted for his truly integrative approach to health. An expert in complementary and alternative therapies, he is the author of 10 highly regarded books on health and nutrition and is a sought after educator and speaker on a variety of integrative health-related topics.

As the author of The Drug-Induced Nutrient Depletion Handbook, which is a gold-standard reference book for healthcare practitioners, Pelton is considered a worldwide leading authority on the topic of drug-induced nutrient depletions.

“Ross Pelton has been on our science advisory board for several years and has contributed greatly to EFI’s educational initiatives,” Michael Schoor, CEO and president of EFI, said. “We feel confident that his highly respected expertise in the evolving field of nutritional supplements makes him invaluable in customer education and the continued growth of our company.”

As scientific director, Pelton will guide the company’s scientific strategy and direction, emphasizing research, innovation, evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and education. He will provide advanced scientific advice and expertise to EFI’s leadership team and the company’s Science Advisory Board.

“Research on probiotics, omega-3 fatty acids, and other evidence-based supplement categories continues to grow at an exponential rate,” Pelton said, adding that he looks forward to staying abreast of global research and informing health professionals, retail entities, and the general public about health-changing breakthroughs. “This is an incredible opportunity to further professional and public knowledge about the importance of these supplement categories, as well as the unique health benefits of EFI’s products.”
