D'Youville veteran's program recognized for excellence

Chiropractic Economics June 17, 2014

179066276June 18, 2014 — D’Youville College was one of five colleges and universities singled out for their military-friendly veterans’ programs.

The Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU), based in Washington, D.C., issued a white paper “Defining Military-Friendly and Veteran-Friendly for Higher Education: Clarifying Ill-Defined Terms” at the 2014 APSCU Annual Convention and Exposition June 16- 18 in Las Vegas.

The original GI Bill will celebrate its 70th Anniversary in June.

The paper, authored by Michael Dakduk, vice president of military and veterans affairs, details how higher education groups, federal and state governments, and media enterprises have contributed to the refinement of veteran programs in higher education.

D’Youville was recognized for the number of programs and policies dedicated to serving the military veteran populations.

The white paper noted D’Youville was recently ranked number one by Military Times “Best for Vets Colleges 2014” and is listed on the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list, the MAE Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities Guide, participates in the Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding and Principles of Excellence.

D’Youville created its Office of Veteran’s Affairs in spring of 2009 and today has more than 400 veterans and military dependents enrolled.  A number are currently enrolled in D’Youville’s chiropractic program.
