January 20, 2012 — Texas Chiropractic College is honored to announce that Howard Wasdin, DC, best-selling co-author of his memoir SEAL Team Six will be speaking at the college’s Russell Auditorium Feb. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m.
“I am looking forward to speaking to Texas Chiropractic College to promote the ‘Winning as a Team’ concept for our profession,” said Wasdin. “We need to do more to educate the general population about chiropractic care.”
This free event is open to the public, with limited seating available. The presentation will be immediately followed by the opportunity to purchase copies of SEAL Team Six to be personally signed by Wasdin. Priority will be given to those who have purchased the book prior to the event, and Dr. Wasdin will only be available for short period of time following his presentation. An underwriters’ reception will be hosted on campus following the book signing.
“It’s an honor for us to welcome Dr. Wasdin to Texas Chiropractic College,” said Dr. Richard G. Brassard, president of TCC. “This is a gentleman who helped keep our country safe and secure during his distinguished service in the Navy, and now keeps the members of his community safe and healthy as a chiropractor. I’m looking forward to hearing him speak to our community in February.”
Every year about 1,000 candidates sign up for Basic Underwater Demolition/Selection (BUD/S) Training. About 75-80% of the men never complete the notoriously brutal course. The ones who do become members of the Navy’s elite special operations force: the Navy SEALS. As a member of Team Six, Dr. Wasdin was trained to conduct the military’s most dangerous counterterrorism missions.
Dr. Wasdin graduated with BUD/S Class 143 and was a top sniper on Team Six. He was awarded a Silver Star for his involvement in the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, where he nearly lost both legs. SEAL Team Six is an extremely rare insider account of SEAL training, what it takes to earn a place among America’s elite warriors, and what it means to be one. Since its publication in May 2011, it has become a New York Times bestseller.
He was a member of the US Navy for twelve years before retiring due to injuries sustained in Somalia. Dr. Wasdin is a 2009 graduate of Life University and lives with his wife and daughter in Georgia, where he owns and operates Absolute Precision Chiropractic.
