Congress considers multi-year Medicare fee fix

Chiropractic Economics May 24, 2010

May 24, 2010 — In April, Congress delayed the scheduled 21-percent Medicare fee decrease until June 1.

That cut in fees to physicians will go into effect on June 1 unless additional congressional action is taken. Members of Congress are currently discussing a potential multi-year Medicare fee fix that would provide slight fee increases in Medicare reimbursement through 2013.

A longer-term solution to this issue is far preferable to the month-to-month delays that have occurred in 2010. However, a true fix to the underlying issues associated with the Medicare fee equation is what is ultimately needed.

Contact your federal representatives regarding the Medicare fee schedule and urge them to quickly address this important issue. Please visit the ACA Legislative Action Center to create an e-mail message using the template we’ve developed for your convenience.
