December 12, 2008 — Automotive suppliers have begun developing active safety products, whose goal it is to prevent or mitigate crashes, as opposed to passive safety products like seat belts and airbags that provide protection only in a crash. The Transportation Activity Safety Institute has been formed to assist the automotive industry in these areas.
Paul Phipps, President of Comfort Motion Technologies, “stated that TASI will play a global role in maturing and standardizing active safety technology.”
CMT’s Vehicle Seat Multi-Position Software enhances the ergonomic value and function of existing power seat applications and automates subtle changes in the seat position, redistributing the occupant’s weight. This reduces the occupant’s stress load and relieves the pain caused by muscle fatigue and compression. Drivers arrive at their destination feeling refreshed and alert.
