Cleveland Chiropractic College alum named to state commission

Chiropractic Economics August 27, 2011

August 27, 2011 — Gov. Sam Brownback recently appointed Mark Balderson, DC, a 1978 graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College, to the Kansas Athletic Commission. The five-person panel administers laws and regulations to govern regulated sports and wrestling in the state.

Balderson will serve as chair of the commission for a term of four years. This is his second term of service on the commission; he was first appointed to the post in 2006. Balderson was one of several people named to different positions by Gov. Brownback. The governor believes that service to the state in any form is a noble endeavor.

“I appreciate the willingness of these Kansans to give of their time, energy and talent. ·With their help, we will make our great state even better,” Brownback said.

Balderston, who practices in Shawnee, Kan., is familiar with giving back his time. He has served the Kansas Chiropractic Association as district director, district president and district vice president.·In addition, he has served as chairman of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts Impaired Physician Program for Chiropractic since 1998.

In 2002, Dr. Balderston was named Kansas “Doctor of the Year” by the Kansas Chiropractic Association, and in 2006 he was elected a “Fellow” of the International College of Chiropractors.
