January 5, 2011 — For years, Erin Altland, DC, of Williamstown Chiropractic Center in Williamstown, Pa., heard about Funding Factory’s program where recycling printer cartridges creates the opportunity for schools and nonprofits to earn money without selling products, and decided it was time to put her used cartridges where they could make a difference.
Altland joined an effort of nearly 50,000 organizations participating in Funding Factory, the company credited with inventing the concept of fundraising through recycling, which since 1998, has resulted in approximately 26 million printer cartridges from entering our nation’s landfills to date.
“This program is simple, convenient and free,” said Altland. “I was looking for another fundraiser to add revenue to a scholarship fund that one of our area nonprofit organization created for high-school kids, yet didn’t have time to plan an event, organize a committee, etc. Funding Factory has been and continues to be a great way to add dollars to the fund without much time or effort,” she added. “To think, we can create money by something we were going to just throw away!”
As the former Executive Board President of the Rainbow Valley Business Womens’ Group, she reached out to partner with this community group to help contribute. Further, she asked her office staff and patients to help share the word in their community and bring these to Williamstown Chiropractic Center.
Their efforts have brought a collection so that the Rainbow Valley Business Womens’ Group can annually offer a $1000 scholarship to a college-bound student.
