December 4, 2012 — The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) announced that the 2013 National Chiropractic Legislative Conference (NCLC) and Educational Symposium will take place March 6-10, 2013 in Washington, D.C., with the Chiropractic Summit serving as a partnering organization for the event.
The theme of this year’s conference, “Framing the Future of Chiropractic,” will offer a big-picture view of the chiropractic profession’s future, and set the stage for its advancement during this pivotal time of health care reform in the U.S.
NCLC is the profession’s chance to weigh in on, among other issues, the ongoing implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, further expansion of chiropractic services in the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs, federal student loan relief for chiropractic students and getting chiropractic physicians commissioned in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
“In March, the congressional season is young, and lawmakers are still fresh and excited about their new jobs. I urge every chiropractic ally that can to come to NCLC on behalf the profession and our patients,” said ACA President Keith Overland, DC. “This year’s event is perfectly timed to have a strong impact on legislators.”
ACA anticipates an exciting line up of speakers again this year. Previous NCLC guests include political pundit and Daily Caller owner Tucker Carlson; political strategist and media personality James Carville; Ret. Brig. Gen. Becky Halstead, spokesperson for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress; Howard Wasdin, DC, author of Seal Team Six: Memoirs of an Elite Navy Seal Sniper; and perennial chiropractic supporters such as Sens. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah); and Reps. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) and James Clyburn (D-S.C.).
ACA’s Second Annual Educational Symposium will take place March 8-10, 2013. Participants can attend more than 40 hours of educational programming. Additionally, ACA will kick-off a year-long celebration of the association’s 50th anniversary with a gala event on March 7, 2013.
Lastly, the Chiropractic Summit will meet during the first day of NCLC-related activity, on Wednesday, March 6; and, for the first time, the American Black Chiropractic Association (ABCA) will host a meeting in conjunction with the event.
