August 8, 2018—Today at The National Convention and Expo, ChiroHealthUSA announced the recipient of the 2018 ChiroHealthUSA Foxworth Family Scholarship in honor of President Dr. Ray Foxworth’s parents, Drs. Betty Pace Mathews and Charles Vernon Mathews.
This year’s recipient is Ms. Brooke Preston, a chiropractic student at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. Ms. Preston received $10,000 for tuition and $5,000 cash to help offset her living expenses. An additional $10,000 donation was made to Northwestern Health Sciences University. Upon hearing the news that she was the recipient of the scholarship, Ms. Preston stated, “More than a financial gain, receiving this scholarship has refueled my passion to help others and has inspired me to be an even better leader and role model in my community.”
“Brooke Preston is such a talented young woman and we are so proud of her accomplishments,” said Dr. Deb Bushway, interim president and CEO of Northwestern Health Sciences University. “She is an outstanding example of the many talented and dedicated students we have here at NWHSU, and we look forward to watching her chiropractic career flourish. After consulting with Brooke, NWHSU intends to use the money donated by ChiroHealthUSA to support a Career Fair for our students.”
Karen Samstad, the Director of Financial Aid at NWHSU was the first to hear that Ms. Preston was the recipient of this year’s scholarship and stated, “We are very grateful to ChiroHealthUSA for helping to advance the chiropractic profession by way of its generous contribution to our university.”
“It is important for me to give back to a profession that has meant so much to me and my family, not only as tribute to my parents, but as an opportunity for chiropractic students to follow in their footsteps,” Foxworth said.
Students may begin submitting applications August 27, 2018. The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2019. Winner notifications will go out on or before June 15, 2019, and the winner will be announced during The National Convention in Orlando in August of 2019. Learn more at www.chusascholar.com.
