Chattanooga Group receives patent for control system

Chiropractic Economics August 8, 2008

August 8, 2008 — Chattanooga Group, a DJO Company, has been awarded a patent for a “control system for a lift assembly associated with chiropractic drop mechanism.” The device, a system of fluid actuators, allows chiropractors to better control “drops,” a term referring to quickly moving a section of the table a prescribed distance in order to apply additional therapeutic force to the patient.

“Most drops are executed through an abrupt push or pull of a lever. You “cock” or lock the section into position, then pull the lever. While effective, this method can also be uncomfortable for the patient,” said Jeff Powe, Senior Product Manager for Chattanooga Group. “With these actuators, the chiropractor controls the drops through a foot pedal and can set them to raise or lower at different speeds.”

“This patent is another example of our continued commitment to innovation across all of our product lines,” said Scott Klosterman, president of Chattanooga Group. “We’re very proud of the high standards our engineering and design teams attain.”
