Carlson Labs reacts to recent study on omega-3

Chiropractic Economics March 28, 2011

March 28, 2011 — A study to be published in the June issue of Archives of Ophthalmology analyzed the effect of regular fish consumption on the development of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Researchers analyzed the dietary habits of 38,022 women not previously diagnosed with AMD.  This included their intake of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. The women with the highest consumption of DHA had a 38 percent reduced risk of developing AMD.

Carilyn Anderson, president of Carlson Laboratories, stated, “Research continues to reveal the extraordinary benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. DHA is highly concentrated in the eyes, so it makes sense that high dietary intake of the omega-3 would support healthy eye structures.  For those individuals that don’t eat an oily fish diet, supplementation is a convenient alternative.”

Carlson Laboratories has an extensive line of eye care products that includes Norwegian fish oils, high in the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. Carlson also offers eye care supplements, which were specially formulated to promote lasting vision as we age.
