January 30, 2014 — The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) will host a special “Green-tie Gala” event for retiring U.S. Senator Tom Harkin (D.-Iowa), a longtime champion of chiropractic who is known on Capitol Hill for his penchant for green ties. The event will take place Thursday, Feb. 27, in Washington, D.C., during the 2014 National Chiropractic Legislative Conference (NCLC).
Demonstrating his commitment to patient access to the healthcare provider of their choice, Sen. Harkin has fought long and hard for the advancement and inclusion of chiropractic services in federal programs and in healthcare reform legislation.
“ACA could not have achieved the level of success on Capitol Hill that it has without a strong advocate by its side,” said ACA President Keith Overland, DC. “Through the profession’s many challenges over the years, Sen. Harkin’s commitment has never waivered. He consistently stepped up when needed, and he has always fought for increased patient access to the services provided by doctors of chiropractic.”
The gala will feature a performance by the renowned Washington comedy group, The Capitol Steps. Attendees are encouraged to wear green ties or a green accent (jacket and tie requested). Commemorative green ties and scarves will be available for purchase before the event. Additional details are available online.
