A letter from the editor: The future of chiropractic care

Gloria Hall April 29, 2025

A letter from the editor, Gloria N. Hall: Issue 7, the future of chiropractic care
Gloria N. Hall | Editor-in-Chief

Recent updates in chiropractic care reflect a growing focus on integrating treatments, such as laser therapy, dry needling, blood flow restriction therapy and neuroplastic resilience, to name a few, focusing on non-drug solutions to pain management.

Welcome to Issue 7 of Chiropractic Economics, which provides an expert review of new treatment protocols with an insider’s look at evidence-based practices and patient-centered approaches.

“A successful multidisciplinary practice is not just about bringing different providers together under one roof—it is about integrating services in a way that improves patient outcomes.”

—Mark Sanna, DC

The future of chiropractic care

Healthcare technology is evolving rapidly, so new treatment tools abound.1,2 Some of the latest trends shaping the future of chiropractic care include:

  • Advanced diagnostic tools
  • Computerized adjusting instruments
  • Regenerative medicine
  • Neuromuscular re-education
  • AI and wearable technology
  • Collaborative care approaches

The development of new chiropractic treatment protocols marks a significant milestone in the evolution of patient care. By integrating cutting-edge techniques, evidence-based practices and a patient-centered approach, these solutions are revolutionizing how musculoskeletal conditions are managed. As chiropractic care gains acceptance as an essential means of maintaining holistic health, these advancements can lead to more effective pain relief, improved health and wellness and broader access for all. The future of chiropractic care is bright.

“With public interest in light-based therapies skyrocketing and the market expanding, early adoption will set your practice apart.”

—Kirk Gair, DC

Regulatory update

As chiropractic care advances, doctors of chiropractic are finally achieving widespread respect and recognition as healthcare providers of choice. Despite one recent scope of practice bill being defeated in Montana (then immediately brought back and defeated again, then brought back as a new bill, which has been tabled as of April 25),3 broad scope of practice changes are still under consideration at the national level with the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act, and in Florida and New York. Virginia has just authorized DCs to dispense supplements.

The following could be viewed as small changes to statute; however, they could end up having big implications (defining a DC as a physician has the potential to change a lot of things).

Illinois: HB3033 would define DCs as physicians and authorize them to do school physicals for student athletes.

Maine: LD828 would allow DCs to serve as school health advisers, a role they could previously not take on.

Oregon: HB3490 would remove limits on duration of medical services, number of visits and areas of practice for DCs serving as attending physicians in workers’ compensation cases.

I hope you find this collection of articles a valuable resource, offering timely information, practical insights and actionable strategies to enhance your practice and benefit more patients.

To your health, prosperity and success!
