A letter from the editor

Gloria Hall July 29, 2025

letter from the editor
Gloria N. Hall | Editor-in-Chief

Welcome to Issue 12 of Chiropractic Economics, which takes an in-depth look at the DC’s role in treating athletes and the importance of supporting the athletic community.

I am pleased to present the following guest editorial from one of my trusted editorial advisors, Joe Kryszak, MBA, CEO of Stirling Professional. Below Joe reflects on the significance of quality chiropractic care for athletes at all ages and levels and talks about his personal connection to the topic.

Team players

Athletes demand more from their bodies than most—and whether they’re sprinting down the field, recovering from a tough hit or pushing through their latest training cycle, they need a support system that helps them stay strong, resilient and pain-free. That’s where chiropractic care shines.

This issue of Chiropractic Economics is dedicated to the essential role DCs play in the lives of athletes—from kids playing youth sports, to high school athletes, to middle-aged pickleball players. Whether it’s improving mobility, accelerating recovery or stopping injuries before they start, chiropractic care gives athletes the edge they need to perform at their best and prevent long-term injuries.

For me, this is more than just a professional theme—it’s personal.

Why I love DCs who work with athletes

I’m the proud father of two sons who have grown up on the lacrosse field. My oldest just graduated from North Carolina State University, and my youngest is currently playing at Johns Hopkins. I’ve had a front-row seat to the intensity, the passion and yes—the wear and tear—that comes with being a competitive athlete. And I can say without hesitation that neither of them would be the athletes they are today without quality chiropractic care. So as a father, I say “thank you” to the DCs who kept them on the field.

My sons’ success wasn’t just about speed, skill or strategy. It was about keeping their bodies in alignment, managing inflammation, helping them recover from impact and optimizing their performance. Chiropractic wasn’t an occasional solution; it was a regular part of their training and recovery routine. And it made all the difference.

Strength is your specialty

As DCs, you know this story well. Every week in your practice, you help athletes recover from sprains, strains and subluxations. You guide them through performance plateaus, reduce their risk of injury and give them the physical foundation to pursue their goals with confidence. You don’t just treat injuries—you help build stronger athletes from the inside out.

This issue is packed with insights into how chiropractic care empowers athletes of all ages and levels. From evidence-based protocols to case studies, expert tips to emerging research, our goal is to equip you with tools and perspectives to elevate your care for the athletes you serve.

As more athletes, parents and coaches recognize the importance of regular chiropractic care, the opportunities for DCs to support the athletic community will only grow.

I hope you find Joe’s insights on Issue 12 and the vital role chiropractic care plays in supporting athletes useful when developing solutions to treat this patient demographic.

To your health, prosperity and success!
