Carlson Labs receives multiple awards from ITQI

Chiropractic Economics Staff June 5, 2012

June 5, 2012 — Carlson Laboratories recently announced that eight of their fish oil products received the prestigious award, including one golden star for: Carlson & Carlson for Kids Norwegian Cod Liver Oil (lemon flavor), Super D Omega-3 Liquid (lemon flavor), and Carlson & Carlson for Kids The Very Finest Fish Oil (both lemon & orange flavors). Carlson’s most highly concentrated fish oil, MedOmega (lemon-lime flavor), received two golden stars.

The International Taste & Quality Institute (ITQI) is based in Brussels and is the leading independent chef- and sommelier-based organization dedicated to testing and promoting superior tasting food and drink from around the world.

A large panel of chefs and sommeliers judge products on a blind basis, with no packaging or previous knowledge of the product. Each judge is dedicated to a sensory analysis of the tasted product and assigns a numeric score on an evaluation sheet reflecting the overall feeling of hedonic pleasure (the most important weight in the final mark) and also other criteria like vision, smell, texture, flavor, and mouth-feel.

Steve Gibas, operations manager at the ITQI, spoke highly of Carlson Laboratories: “Your company and your team should be particularly proud to market products that are so valued for their superior taste. Your particular product is very hard to market as good tasting, but for years you have managed to do so which is a remarkable achievement.”
