Course Description:
Weight lifting is a form of exercise, type of rehabilitation and competitive sport that millions of athletes of all ages & both genders worldwide utilize. Strength, power, endurance and stamina are developed through weight training. Athletes and non-athletes incorporate resistance training to improve cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health and fitness. Weight lifting has a high potential for injury. This two-hour class covers common weight training injuries and the mechanism of how and why these injuries occur. Anatomy and physiology are described in detail. Procedures of a thorough evaluation and diagnosis are discussed. In-office chiropractic treatment techniques, patient education and rehabilitation tools are emphasized.
Course Outline:
1) Detailed description of anatomy and physiology.
2) Diagnostic tools to increase knowledge of athletic injuries.
3) Clinical chiropractic applications to treat athletes and help them return to sport.
4) Patient education strategies for prevention and rehabilitation of resistance training injuries.
