Course Description: Core strength and stability are essential in the prevention and rehabilitation of numerous musculoskeletal injuries. Core muscle atrophy, dysfunction and strength imbalances are common sources of painful and performance limiting conditions. This course contains a review of core muscle anatomy and physiology. This two-hour class covers core exercises to increase strength, stability and function. The program describes in-depth patient education strategies in prevention and rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal conditions.

Course Outline:

1)     Detailed description of anatomy and physiology of the core.

2)     Exercises to prevent and rehabilitate musculoskeletal injuries involving core muscle atrophy and weakness.

3)     Chiropractic management of core atrophy.

4)     Short term and long-term training strategies for the core.

Learning Objectives:

1)     Heighten knowledge of core anatomy and physiology.

2)     Build techniques to prevent and rehabilitate musculoskeletal injuries.

3)     Enhance skills in the chiropractic management of core injuries.
