August 5, 2011 — Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) honored Donald J. Krippendorf, DC, DABCN, of St. Petersburg, Fla., with the William D. Harper Science of Existence Award at its annual Homecoming and License Renewal held in Galveston, Texas, in late July. The Harper Award is the highest honor presented by TCC and the Board of Regents.
While Krippendorf is the chairmen of the TCC Board of Regents, his peers were able to surprise him with the award at the annual President’s Reception. Presenting the award were Dr. Jack Christie, vice chairman of the TCC Board of Regents, and Dr. Richard G. Brassard, TCC president, both past honorees.
Krippendorf is a 1970 graduate of Lincoln College of Chiropractic and has practiced in the state of Florida since that time. He is the founder and owner of Florida Chiropractic Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla., and has been an active member in his community and his profession throughout his career.
Krippendorf received the Presidential Merit Award from the American Chiropractic Association in 1998 and went on to serve as president of that organization, 2003-2005. Joining the TCC Board of Regents in 2005, he was elected to serve as vice chairman in 2007 and was elevated to the position of chairman in 2009.
“Don Krippendorf is a great leader in our profession, a great leader in his community and a great leader for our College,” said Brassard. “He is very deserving of this award, and we thank him for all he does for chiropractic.”
In other news from TCC’s Homecoming, four new members were named to the Board of Regents: Shaun Holt, MD; Shaun McCrae, DC; Dawn Schwab, DC; and Brian Hawkins, DC; who had previously served on the board. Leaving the Board of Regents after each serving the college for six years were Elizabeth Harris-Lindberg, MEd., and David Higginbotham, DC.
