Northeast College chiropractic program earns accreditation

A new eight-year accreditation cycle has begun for Northeast College of Health Sciences’ doctor of chiropractic program, as the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) has granted it the maximum allowed term of continued accreditation.

The CCE’s team commended the college for its “comprehensive systems and robust processes which foster continuous quality improvement and enhance student learning outcomes,” according to a Northeast College press release.
Founded in 1919 and first accredited by the CCE in 1977, Northeast College—then known as New York Chiropractic College—was among the first chiropractic institutions to achieve this recognition.
On January 10, Northeast College President Michael Mestan, DC, EdD, and Todd Knudsen, DC, associate provost of institutional effectiveness and compliance, represented the college and the program during a meeting with the CCE Council in Phoenix, Arizona.

“The Council’s questions underscored their recognition of our Doctor of Chiropractic program as a leader in chiropractic education. It was clear they view Northeast as a model for evidence-based practice, innovation and student success,” Mestan said. “Our entire College community has contributed to this success and high praise from CCE by consistently displaying their collective passion, hard work and shared commitment to excellence.”

In addition to the January meeting, the CCE team visited the Seneca Falls, New York, campus in September 2024. Following their visit, the six-member team issued a report commending the DC program for its exemplary integration of robust program-effectiveness processes. The report also highlighted the program’s Quality Patient Care system, noting its effective use of outcomes data to improve clinic operations, patient care and student learning
