March 19, 2010 — Western States Chiropractic College announces its transition to the University of Western States. This name change represents a transition of the former college to university status, creating the opportunity to offer new programs of study, additional advanced degrees, and expanded research opportunities.
The University of Western States will continue to offer its current programs, including its flagship four-year program leading to a Doctor of Chiropractic degree as well as a one-year certificate program in massage therapy.
In the next few years, the University of Western States will add new academic and continuing education offerings that will complement existing programs and create a more diversified curriculum for students who are pursuing careers in integrated healthcare professions. The first of these new programs will be a master’s degree in exercise and sports science to be launched in April 2010.
“Chiropractic and massage therapy represent only a portion of integrated health care career choices available to students today,” said Dr. Joseph Brimhall, UWS President. “By expanding upon those programs, offering additional courses of study, and transitioning to university status, the University of Western States becomes a more diversified and well-rounded health care institution.”
The University of Western States will adopt its new name immediately, and will transition its Web site, signs, and other materials in the next few months.
