A new training platform, StudyJet, is super-charging practices without conference travel
Most practice owners aren’t trained to run a business. The full slate of business skills is rarely taught in school regarding owning and operating a chiropractic office or practice. For the Doctor of Chiropractic, it’s virtually impossible to care for patients all day then attend to the business during the “off hours.”
Even with a business manager, the chiropractic owner/operator and manager need to be on the same page.
Now that’s possible, without leaving the office, as Ulan Nutritional Systems and StudyJet have teamed to offer five courses to choose from to bring practice owners and managers the latest in promotion, financial management fundamentals, how to grow practice income, the seven secrets of solvency, and more.
“I’m super happy to have done this course,” said chiropractic office weight loss manager Vicki Benson. “I’m even more happy knowing my office manager and my [chiropractor] husband are doing it, as I feel like I am now not the only one trying to get all of the tech in! In the past before this course, I feel like I sounded like a broken record trying to get correct actions in. Now I feel a sense of relief and encouragement, knowing that we will all be on the same page.”

An ever-increasing number of chiropractors and health care professionals are embracing online learning according to the report, Physician Virtual Communications Survey: How physicians are using virtual conferences and online CME to improve health outcomes. The flexibility, convenience, and unlimited access — with no time away from the practice and patients — is resulting in a higher demand for online courses.
Courses are mobile-friendly and provide additional resources, and are on-demand to fit into the Doctor of Chiropractic’s schedule. The Physician Virtual Communications Survey shows that doctors prefer early morning or evening course times, and 84% prefer to get their continuing education credits online.
For DCs, online education offers the best of both worlds — courses in the comfort of their own home, in their office or on the go via laptops, iPads or smart phones — without the hassles of travel or missing patient appointments. Office managers can take courses piecemeal during the day or after hours.
The completion rate for Ulan’s StudyJet courses, 86% compared to the average 4-27% for online courses, is in part due to live online tutoring. The StudyJet tutor does not teach, but is there to observe students and assist with any questions, difficulties or feedback if desired. It’s the perfect combination of live one-on-one interaction and self-paced study delivered online.
“This course has been helpful for me to start to develop the role of an office manager,” said Kristy Harvell, DC. “In 16 years of practice I have never had an office manager. For some reason, I was dragging my feet to hire this role. I think, in part, this was because I was unclear as to what exactly an office manager was. After completing this course, I am more motivated to find this person. I can see not only how helpful this will be going forward but how critical it will be for the practice to expand and maintain the same quality of care that we currently provide.”
The demand for taking courses online has grown rapidly over the past few years, and according to the Physician Virtual Communication Survey, is expected to triple by 2025. Online learning will be a $325 billion business by 2025, according to Forbes magazine.
“I think the trends within hiring, workplace skills, and training are a big reason why we are seeing these [online learning] revenue projections,” writes Forbes contributor TJ McCue. “People need to keep learning to succeed (or just stay afloat) in these times…As more students go through school using robust learning platforms, their expectation for lifelong continued learning opportunities will only increase. Corporations are taking note…”

When it comes to training, the biggest hurdle any chiropractor or staff member has to overcome is time away from the practice. There’s also the barrier of financial cost when it comes to sending staff to train on anything.

Ulan Nutritional Systems and StudyJet are breaking down the barriers to continued education and creating practices where DCs, office managers and staff are in sync and experiencing growth by bringing in new patients through rock-solid practice management.
