5 ways your patients will thank you for using a practice management system

Kaitlin Morrison March 16, 2018

Practice management systems can help you improve your practice records, keep track of information and manage everything more efficiently.

Practice management systems can help you improve your practice records, keep track of information and manage everything more efficiently.

In fact, your patients may also appreciate the changes.

Here’s how your patients may thank you.

1. Your patients may have a better experience with your administrative staff, and they may thank you for it.

Thanks to a more efficient office, you may save administrative time and devote fewer resources to taking care of paperwork. In turn, your office may devote more time and effort to patient care and, with fewer headaches from managing your practice, you may be able to improve the patient experience at your clinic.

2. Retention rates may increase!

With your newfound efficiency, you may see increased patient retention rates. Many patients place a high priority on having a great patient experience and specifically seek out any place they can find a substantially-improved situation and significantly better care.

Particularly if patients self-pay, they may believe they should receive a specific experience at your clinic. Regardless, many people look at wait times, first impressions with a particular doctor, and other characteristics when choosing a chiropractor. Having a more efficient practice will probably help you win repeat patients.

 3. Referral of friends and family to your practice.

Happy patients are often on the lookout for ways to refer patients to your practice. This is great for you, because referrals bring patients into your clinic without costing you additional marketing investment. Referrals mean business growth without extra effort promoting your care or adding additional services.

They’re a simpler way to expand your practice. Best of all, happy patients who love your practice often attract other people like them who also appreciate what you do. With the costs of acquiring new patients, you could probably benefit from more referrals.

 4. You may see better visit participation, fewer no-shows and better adherence.

Many practice management systems include automated reminders, text messaging appointment notifications, and more. These features are designed to help patients remember their appointments, receive directions to your clinic, and more.

You may see tangible evidence of improvement in your practice by adding these new features. In turn, your patients may find it much easier to keep attending their appointments and participating actively in their care.

5. Patients may thank you for implementing a better billing system at your practice.

Practice management systems can help you smooth-out your billing process, making it easier for patients to understand where their own payment contributions fit in. A great billing process saves patients a lot of hassles–there are often fewer problems on their end as they communicate with their insurance company, for instance.

Having too many billing problems can mean patients become more responsible for billing.

Having to submit their own bills, beg their insurance company for reimbursement, or check their own insurance eligibility can just frustrate patients and make them less inclined to return. Don’t allow your billing to harm your practice.

Happier practice and happier patients

You can proactively improve your care and grow your practice by striving to make your office more efficient and effective. Practice management software can help tremendously, particularly if you don’t already have an organizational system in place or if you are relying on paper for everything.

With software, you can quickly generate reports, monitor the business side of your practice, make sure revenue and expenses are on track, and keep your practice organized. Practice management software may integrate with your EHR or may include an EHR system as part of a package from your vendor.

Either way, it can deliver a variety of practical benefits for your office and may be very popular with your patients, even if they don’t realize you have it working behind-the-scenes at your practice.
