TCC student receives community scholarship

Chiropractic Economics Staff July 26, 2013

Eric_Olson_ScholarshipJuly 26, 2013 — The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Cultural Arts Committee met at the Chamber recently to congratulate two scholarship recipients, Corinne Miller from San Jacinto College and Eric Olson from Texas Chiropractic College. Each student was chosen for their outstanding academic performance to receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Eric was chosen by the TCC Scholarship Committee, led by Luis Rivas. “We are excited that the Pasadena Chamber offers opportunities like this scholarship for the students of TCC,” Rivas said. “Eric was an excellent candidate and is well deserving of this award.”

The students were required to write an essay representing how their majors relate to cultural arts. Eric is a third trimester student at Texas Chiropractic College after graduating cum laude from Texas Christian University with a B.S. in Movement Science. At TCC, Eric is Vice President of his class and a member of the Student Ambassador club. He is pursuing a dual degree at the University of Houston – Clear Lake where he hopes to enter the Master’s program in Fitness and Human Performance. By becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic with an advanced degree in Applied Physiology and Rehabilitation, Eric hopes to practice in the sports medicine and orthopedic realm.

Eric sees the art of Chiropractic as a combination of intellectual ability and physical skill. It takes years to develop and refine the psychomotor skills necessary to effectively adjust, or manipulate a patient. Becoming a Master of the Art of Manipulation is very important to becoming a successful Chiropractor. Both students gave excellent essays and each proved to be the top of their class.

The students received their scholarship checks at the Chamber “Cultural Arts Theater Night” held at Art Park Theater in Deer Park where the students assisted in the auction.
