Sherman College Board of Trustees Begins Presidential Search

Chiropractic Economics Staff May 4, 2022

The Sherman College Board of Trustees has taken its first official steps to begin the search for the institution’s sixth president.

The Board identified and vetted several search firms to assist in the presidential search and selected Diversified Search Group. DivSearch was ranked one of the top executive recruiting firms in the nation by Forbes in 2021 and is the largest female-founded retained executive search firm in the world. The firm is dedicated to attracting and recruiting inspiring, transformational leaders who bring steady direction, bold thinking, a commitment to diversity, fresh ideas and sustained leadership to their clients and organizations.

“DivSearch’s mission, ‘Cultivating New Leadership for a Changing World,’ speaks to Sherman College’s needs looking to the future,” says Board Chair Dr. Shawn Dill. “Our next president will need to address the issues of a changing world while taking Sherman College to its next level.”

An institutional search committee will work with DivSearch to ensure that Sherman College’s specific needs are met. The search committee consists of the college’s full Board of Trustees along with selected representatives from campus constituencies including faculty, staff, student body, alumni, and philanthropic supporters.

Dr. Judy Campanale will chair the search committee, with Linda Giuliano serving as vice chair. Board of Trustees includes Chair Dr. Shawn Dill, Vice Chair Dr. Matthew McCoy, Secretary Dr. Lisa Lanzara-Bazzani, Dr. Judy Campanale, Dr. Frank Hahn, Linda Giuliano, Dr. Richelle Knowles and Dr. Jose Salgado. Joining the board on the Search Committee are Karen Canup (Executive Team), Dr. Jaime Browning (Faculty Senate), Chris Roberson (Staff Council), Dr. Jillian Farrell (alumni), Joshua Yachter (student body) and Dr. Irene Gold (President’s Circle donor).

The committee will partner with DivSearch to identify the characteristics and attributes for the institution’s next president. The entire search process is expected to take several months, and a smooth transition is anticipated, with Dr. Cordero spending time with the new leader prior to his departure at the end of the year. Applicant and further contact information will be forthcoming from DivSearch; those interested in applying should check the college’s blog in the coming weeks.

“We are so grateful for the significant impact that Dr. Edwin Cordero has had on Sherman College,” says search committee chair Dr. Judy Campanale. “His 10 years as president leave a legacy that will remain for generations. Our next president will need to build on the successes of Dr. Cordero and move Sherman College to even greater heights.”
