May 7, 2010 — The Parker Alumni Association presented a check of $5,000 to Parker College of Chiropractic to fulfill its final payment of the $25,000 pledge made in 2008.
Not only was the donation the largest in the association’s history, the donation was paid off two years earlier than expected, which helped renovate a lounge and classroom space for the chiropractic interns.
“We are so grateful for the tremendous amount of support that the alumni association gives to the students,” said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College. “Their contributions play a big role in the students’ lives.”
The purpose of the donation was to enrich the academic lives of all current and future students. It was important to the alumni association because they wanted to remind the Parker students that the association is here to support them as students and throughout their careers.
“It has provided students a place to relax, read patient files, and prepare themselves in order to take care of patients to the best of their ability,” said Timothy Gunn, director of alumni relations at Parker College.
The alumni association will be announcing its 2010 Annual Award recipients in a special luncheon held on Sept. 24, 2010 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas.
Each year the association honors a few individuals who have made a difference in the chiropractic profession. A few of the past recipients of these awards have been Dr. Lloyd Steffensmier, Dr. Tracy Wilson ’97, Dr. Stephen Thaxton ’91, and Dr. Ronen Mendi ’98. Nominations for the 2010 awards are being accepted until July 1 and nomination forms can be found here.
Membership to the alumni association is open to any chiropractor, chiropractic assistant, patient, or business who wants to support the future of the chiropractic profession.
