February 7, 2011 — Standard Process Inc. was recently presented with the Nutrition Business Journal’s Business Achievement Award for Investment in the Future.
The Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) is an executive newsletter with a research and editorial focus on the strategic issues of the nutrition industry. Representatives of the publication selected Standard Process as an award recipient, based on the company’s “strong vision for what it takes to succeed in business, as well as a strong sense of responsibility to do the right thing.” This marks the second time in five years that Standard Process has earned the Investment in the Future award from the NBJ.
“Our customers depend on us for high quality whole food supplements,” said Charles C. DuBois, president of Standard Process. “Receiving this award again highlights the commitment we’ve made to investing in our company and employees so that we can continuously improve and surpass our customers’ expectations.”
Standard Process believes that investing in its employees and manufacturing facilities is key to the company’s sales growth. NBJ reported Standard Process made “strategic investments on several fronts–in quality raw materials, in manufacturing efficiencies, in outreach efforts to better educate the practitioner channel and in its employees.”
Over the last two years, Standard Process has had several expansions and renovations. Its onsite childcare facility was expanded by 168 percent and 12,000 square feet were added to the main plant production area. A 10,000-square-foot Welcome Center, built on Standard Process’ certified organic farm, provided room to host educational seminars and tours for customers.
Purchasing additional equipment also helped the company handle increased demand for its supplements. Standard Process dries raw materials to preserve their nutrients, and the addition of another dryer helped increase the company’s drying capabilities by 80 percent.
Despite the challenges facing today’s economy, Standard Process has continued to offer its employees annual raises, year-end bonuses, profit sharing, and pension plans. In addition, Standard Process, named a Top 100 Workplace by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, offers tuition reimbursement programs, and a comprehensive health and wellness program.
The NBJ Business Achievement Awards are given annually to leaders in the nutrition, natural products, and alternative healthcare industries. Winners are selected by the NBJ editorial team and the NBJ Editorial Advisory Board. The Nutrition Business Journal will honor all award recipients at the NBJ Summit, July 19-22, 2011 in Dana Point, Calif.
