Metagenics to sponsor book signing for Jeffrey Bland’s newest book

Chiropractic Economics March 18, 2014

9780062290731_p0_v3_s260x420March 18, 2014 — Metagenics Inc. recently announced that it will sponsor special book signing receptions in select North American cities to launch the latest book by Jeffrey Bland, PhD — The Disease Delusion: Conquering the Causes of Illness for a Healthier, Longer and Happier Life (HarperWave, May 2014).

These events are tailored specifically for healthcare practitioners to learn about the future of medicine — healthcare rather than disease care — as seen through the eyes of the “Father of Functional Medicine.”

In his newest book, Bland introduces the reader to the medicine of the 21st century. It is medicine that is personalized to the specific needs of the person to result in health, not just the treatment of the symptoms of disease. This form of healthcare, which Bland defines as functional medicine, focuses on the understanding of the cause of chronic illness and its treatment using a blended approach of lifestyle, diet, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals.

The Disease Delusion provides a personalized approach to the prevention and management of chronic illnesses through the application of breakthrough discoveries in health science made in the past 10 years — whether the concern is diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, dementia, autism, obesity, chronic fatigue or pain, or a feeling of premature aging.

At the receptions sponsored by Metagenics, Bland will give healthcare practitioners an inside look at how his new book can help change patient focus to healthcare, along with an overview of his approach to personalized lifestyle medicine. These events will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the following cities:

April 30: New York, N.Y.
May 1: Boston, Mass.
May 2: Miami, Fla.
June 4: Chicago, Ill.
June 5: Toronto, Ontario
June 18: Aliso Viejo, Calif.
June 19: Los Angeles, Calif.
June 20: Seattle, Wash.

The cost for each event is $60, which includes the book and an opportunity to get it signed by Bland. A portion of each registration fee will be donated to the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute, a non-profit organization that collaborates with leading medical experts, scientists, educators, advocacy groups, medical institutions, medical societies, and legislative groups to further its mission to integrate the principles of personalized lifestyle medicine for the prevention and management of chronic illness into healthcare systems worldwide.
