Logan University Partners with Missouri Baptist University for 3+2 Agreement

Chiropractic Economics Staff July 28, 2021

In an effort to better serve students intending to pursue the athletic training profession, Logan University is proud to announce an articulated program agreement with Missouri Baptist University (MBU) located in St. Louis, Mo.

In an effort to better serve students intending to pursue the athletic training profession, Logan University is proud to announce an articulated program agreement with Missouri Baptist University (MBU) located in St. Louis, Mo.

The agreement allows students to earn their bachelor’s degree in exercise science from MBU and their master’s degree in athletic training from Logan in a total of five years, saving time and money. Students applying to Logan’s Master’s in Athletic Training program under a 3+2 program agreement will qualify for a waived application fee.

As part of Logan’s mission to remain at the forefront of advanced health care education, MBU was a natural choice for partnership. MBU is home to the only accredited undergraduate exercise science program in the state of Missouri and one of only 66 accredited programs in the United States.

“We’re honored to partner with another top-notch local university to provide students from around the world with high-quality educational opportunities,” said Stephen Nickell, EdD, MA, ATC, sports and exercise science department chair and athletic training program director of Logan University. “The ability to fast-track education is extremely beneficial in today’s competitive workforce landscape. This partnership benefits both schools and provides a direct career path into athletic training for Missouri Baptist students.”

Additionally, Dr. Nickell said the agreement provides Logan students with the opportunity to complete some of their clinical hours working with MBU athletics.

“This new articulation agreement continues a standing relationship between MBU and Logan,” said Michael Nolan, MSEd, LAT, ATC, assistant professor of exercise science and faculty athletics representative at MBU. “MBU students can now fulfill career aspirations of becoming a certified athletic trainer with a seamless transition from undergraduate to graduate school at two respected institutions, preparing them to step into a profession expected to experience much faster than average growth in the next eight years.”

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the athletic training profession is forecast to grow 16% between 2019-2029, four times higher than the predicted average growth of all professions over the same period.
