Local AlignLife chiropractors serve up home cooking at Ronald McDonald House

Chiropractic Economics Staff June 13, 2014

06.13.14_Local_AlignLife_Chiropractors_Serve_up_Home_Cooking_at_Ronald_McDonald_HouseJune 13, 2014 — At AlignLife of Wauwatosa, helping others is exactly what DCs Sara Mahalko and Katie Sam enjoy most. Every day they see patients, they are able to impact lives, not only through chiropractic care but in other ways, as well.

“We thoroughly enjoy what we do in our office,” Mahalko said. “We are constantly looking for ways to help others in our community, as well.”

So when the Kiwanis Club of Wauwatosa had a guest speaker from the Ronald McDonald House, Mahalko and Sam knew that they needed to reach out to those families in need.

And on June 4, the AlignLife doctors did just that, preparing a meal for several families that were staying at the house.

“It was such a great feeling to help those who are going through a tough time. To see the smiles on their faces and to hear them say ‘thank you’ to us was absolutely priceless,” Mahalko said.

Sam agreed.

“We enjoyed the opportunity to provide a little piece of ourselves through a meal to help them through their difficult journey,” she added.

Sam, whose son had a liver transplant at 8 months of age, knows exactly what the families are going through.

“During those hard days and times while at the hospital, to have a hot meal to come home to, to help it feel more like our home, was invaluable,” she said.

Both chiropractors said they enjoyed serving the meal to the guests at the Ronald McDonald House and look forward to being regular meal providers.
