July 20, 2011 — On Monday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) unveiled its proposed regulations for health insurance exchanges.
Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), states are required to develop health insurance exchanges, or allow the Federal government to operate an exchange on their behalf should they choose not to. The proposed rule provides information on how states must structure exchange board oversight, how insurance plans can be marketed and many other operational facets.
The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) will be drafting comments in response to the proposed rule to ensure that the interests of doctors of chiropractic are protected as the healthcare delivery system continues to evolve. For ACA updates, visit www.acatoday.org/hcr.
