Health info exchange platform launched

Chiropractic Economics January 5, 2009

ATLANTA, — WellCentive announced the launch of two new healthcare information technology (HIT) solutions designed to efficiently, securely and cost-effectively share patient data within a community of health care providers. WellCentive Gateway allows providers to easily access patient data from a variety of outside HIT systems. WellCentive Connect is a healthcare technology platform which receives data from a variety of community HIT systems and can forward it to physicians, insurance companies and other authorized parties.

“The sharing and exchange of patient data within a community is often complicated and costly, and these barriers adversely affect patient care,” said Paul Taylor, MD., WellCentive co-founder, CEO and medical director.

— WellCentive Gateway is a healthcare Single Sign-On (SSO) portal, which allows physicians and their staff to access multiple HIT systems using a single user ID and password.  Once logged in, the user can easily
access patient information from a variety of outside systems, such as hospital systems and labs.  The user can also be automatically authenticated directly into other systems providers may use on a daily basis, such as e-prescribing systems and electronic medical records (EMRs).

— WellCentive Connect is a cross-platform health care interface engine, which receives data in any format from a variety of HIT systems and automatically re-formats data into a single common format.  This newly
re-formatted data is then sent to the dcotor’s EMR or a payor’s database using a single outbound interface. WellCentive Connect supports any different data transport methods and handles various types
of health care data, including physician notes, lab results, radiology reports and PACS images, as well as nuclear medicine, vascular, cardiology, pulmonary, physiology and other reports.

“WellCentive Gateway brings the provider to relevant patient data, instead of bringing data to the provider and with WellCentive Connect, providers are able to receive this data in a format they prefer,” said Taylor. “These solutions are much more cost-effective, and deliver real savings and efficiencies to health care organizations.”

WellCentive Gateway and WellCentive Connect are both available as stand-alone solutions, and WellCentive Gateway can also be combined with the WellCentive Registry system.
