Chiropractic Economics July 27, 2010

PORTLAND, Ore., July 26 — Strong new privacy policy for health IT is now underway to empower patients to have more control over their health records. These expanded HIPAA rules, published July 8 by the Department of Health and Human Services, provide a stricter enforcement environment for security breaches of protected health information (PHI). Legal and data breach experts, Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC and ID Experts, have partnered to provide a free webinar designed for healthcare providers and HIPAA covered entities and business associates on Thursday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. PT. This webinar will summarize the new regulatory requirements and their impact on healthcare organizations, outline practical steps to reduce and mitigate liability, and offer tips to secure and document privacy compliance for protecting patient records.
WHO: Healthcare organizations, covered entities, and business associates who need to protect patient records.
WHAT: Free Webinar: “Avoiding increased risks and liabilities under the just released HITECH/HIPAA privacy rules,” with Rick Kam, president and co-founder of ID Experts, and Jim Pyles, principal and co-founder of Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC, Attorneys at Law.  Mr. Kam, CIPP, is an expert in privacy and information security and has led organizations in policy and solutions to address protecting PHI/PII and remediating privacy incidents and identity theft.  Mr. Pyles has more than thirty-five years of experience in litigation, counseling, and lobbying in the field of health law and is nationally known for his expertise in health information technology and health information privacy.  This webinar is eligible for 1 IAPP CPE credit.
