Free webiner explores protection of patient records

PORTLAND, Ore., July 26 — Strong new privacy policy for health IT is now underway to empower patients to have more control over their health records. These expanded HIPAA rules, published July 8 by the Department of Health and Human Services, provide a stricter enforcement environment for security breaches of protected health information (PHI). Legal and data breach experts, Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC and ID Experts, have partnered to provide a free webinar designed for healthcare providers and HIPAA covered entities and business associates on Thursday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. PT. This webinar will summarize the new regulatory requirements and their impact on healthcare organizations, outline practical steps to reduce and mitigate liability, and offer tips to secure and document privacy compliance for protecting patient records.
