June 21, 2012 — TheRecord.com recently reported on a Canadian pilot project that looked at integrated care for low-back pain.
During the pilot project, doctors of chiropractic worked in MD offices, conducted 30-minute assessments of patients’ low-back pain and offered education, followed by discussion of treatment options with the MD. Satisfaction was high among the MDs, who find it challenging to treat recurring back pain on their own, as well as the patients, who noted increased confidence in diagnosis and treatment by getting the combined expertise.
