Davidson Therapy Products demonstrates shoulder recovery solution

Chiropractic Economics October 28, 2012

October 28, 2012 — Davidson Therapy Products LLC demonstrated the SLINGPROM at the Annual APTA Private Practice Section meeting in Las Vegas Oct. 24-27.

The SLINGPROM is a patented shoulder pulley system that is a new take on the traditional shoulder pulley. It provides a more comfortable way to perform passive range of motion (PROM) shoulder exercises and joint mobilizations that can’t be performed with a traditional shoulder pulley.

According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, close to 2 million people in the U.S. went to their doctors because of a rotator cuff problem in 2008. Up to 50 percent of this population will require surgical intervention to restore function to their shoulders. In addition, it is estimated that 3 to 5 percent of the U.S. population suffers from adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) annually.

The SLINGPROM is a simple, inexpensive device that enables comfortable PROM to be performed in the clinic and by the patient in their home. Previously, in order to receive PROM at home, one would have to rent a machine for hundreds of dollars per week or have a physical therapist come to the home.
