ChiroTouch, the nation’s leader in chiropractic software, is offering chiropractors a free, downloadable infographic revealing the far-reaching, office-wide impact of ICD-10. The goal is to help chiropractors prepare for the October 1, 2015 deadline for implementing ICD-10 codes in their practices.
“The switch to ICD-10 is a significant transition that impacts so much more than just billing,” said Robert Moberg, CEO of ChiroTouch. “We urge our chiropractors to study our office impact infographic to see just how important ICD-10 will be to all areas of their practices.”
ChiroTouch’s detailed ICD-10 Office Impact Infographic shows the ways in which the new ICD-10 coding system will permeate a chiropractor’s entire office. Beginning in the reception area, using the ICD-10 codes will affect protected health information and systems, as well as new clinical summary forms.
During treatment, patients may receive a more thorough exam to meet the detailed criteria for the selected codes.
In the back office, staff must make sure the detailed coding for designating laterality and specificity has been properly entered on all patient encounters and tied directly to their individual case.
Having a better understanding of the office-wide impact of ICD-10 will allow chiropractors to be more prepared for the changes. By properly training themselves, their staff, and updating their software system, they can be ready for the implementation deadline.
“While the transition can seem daunting, it’s important to keep in mind the positive impact the ICD-10 coding system will have,” said Moberg. “Greater clinical specificity means enhanced patient care, better outcome assessment analysis, and possibly even improved reimbursements affecting all areas of a chiropractor’s practice.”
ChiroTouch offers two ONC-certified EHR chiropractic software systems, one cloud-based and one on premise. Both systems are designed from the ground up to maximize efficiencies for virtually every process, including patient self check-in, scheduling, SOAP notes, billing, interoffice communication and more.
ChiroTouch has developed its HIPAA-compliant systems to drastically reduce the time it takes to perform tasks that chiropractors are already doing, thus giving chiropractors more time to see more patients—resulting in increased referrals, improved efficiencies, and a direct, measurable impact on practice profitability.
