All-in-one immune tab supplements for children’s immunity support

One chewable tablet can supply 100% of a child’s recommended daily value of vitamin C, vitamin D3, and zinc for maximum children’s immune support

Keeping children as healthy as possible is often a top parent priority. This often involves teaching them good hygiene practices, such as washing their hands after using the restroom and before they eat, along with following a healthy diet and getting regular physical activity. Another way to help boost children’s immune support is with supplements.

Children’s immunity support: Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps protect our cells from free radical damage and aids in the absorption of iron. Our bodies also rely on vitamin C for proper immune system function. A 2017 review of this vitamin adds that supplementation with this vitamin appears to play a role in preventing and treating respiratory and systemic infections. This is important for children’s immunity support as they tend to have a high rate of respiratory infections.

A 2019 meta-analysis compared the effects of a vitamin C supplement versus placebo in 3,135 children between three months and 18 years of age. Those taking vitamin C had decreased the duration of their upper respiratory tract infection by 1.6 days. Other studies suggest that vitamin C may help in the management of the COVID-19 virus.

The Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) provides the following recommended daily intake for children based on age:

  • birth to 6 months – 40 mg
  • 7 months to 1 year – 50 mg
  • 1 to 3 years – 15 mg
  • 4 to 8 years – 25 mg
  • 9 to 13 years – 45 mg
  • 14 to 18 years – 75 mg for males, 65 mg for females

Vitamin D3

Another important nutrient for children’s immunity support is vitamin D. Vitamin D supports immune system health by helping the body fight off bacteria and viruses.

A 2020 article in the journal Nutrients explains that vitamin D signaling is thought to support the innate immune system, which is the first line of defense when a germ or pathogen enters the body. This is supported by vitamin D deficiency being associated with increased infection rates.

Research published in Immune Network in 2020 indicates that vitamin D3 is of special importance for immune system function in children. This is due, in part, to its increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, which helps promote the processing and reuse of damaged cells, along with increasing antimicrobial activity.

The recommended intake of vitamin D for children, according to the ODS, is 10 mcg (400 IU) for children up to one year of age and 15 mcg (600 IU) for those over one year.

Zinc

Zinc is a third nutrient needed by the body to protect it from pathogens, making this trace element critical for immune function. It also plays a role in wound healing.

A 2019 review of zinc’s role in antiviral immunity shares numerous studies that have connected this nutrient with antiviral effects. This includes inhibiting cell splitting in the virus involved in foot and mouth disease, which is a highly contagious condition that tends to be more common in children under the age of five according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and often spreads fast at schools and daycare centers.

This review also points to several pieces of research that have linked zinc supplementation with reduced cold symptom severity, frequency, and duration. It adds that zinc also appears to inhibit the viruses involved in respiratory tract infections such as influenza and the coronavirus.

The recommended intake of zinc for children, as supplied by the ODS, is:

  • birth to 6 months – 2 mg
  • 7 months to 3 years – 3 mg
  • 4 to 8 years – 5 mg
  • 9 to 13 years – 8 mg
  • 14 to 18 years – 11 mg for males and 9 mg for females

Supplying 100% of these nutrients in one tablet

Dee Cee Labs Children’s 100% Immune Tabs supplies 100% of a child’s recommended daily value of vitamin C, vitamin D3, and zinc in each chewable tablet for children’s immune support. It also comes in a natural orange flavor, reducing the struggle of getting children to take their immune-boosting vitamins.

This product is created for children aged four and older. It contains no artificial color, flavor, sweeteners, or preservatives. It is also free of milk, lactose, wheat, yeast, fish, and sodium.
