January 14, 2011 — The Alumni Association at Cleveland Chiropractic College-Los Angeles (CCCLA) recently named Dr. Tammy Cassa “Alum of the Year” for 2010. Cassa, a 2008 graduate of the college, was given the honor for her tireless efforts on behalf of CCCLA and its alumni.
Dr. Adana Moses, president of the association, said the ideal candidate for “Alum of the Year” is someone who is an asset to the group in a variety of ways. As she is a fixture at numerous alumni events and is the consummate team player, Cassa fit that description perfectly, Moses said.
“Dr. Cassa is always there to help no matter what, and most of the time we haven’t even asked,” Moses said. “She has attended all alumni events, including networking evenings, mixers, our annual Coming Home and student events on campus. She represents Cleveland with pride no matter where she goes.”
From Coming Home to the Dean’s List Luncheon, wherever Cleveland alumni gather, Cassa is usually close by. For that reason, she was an obvious choice for “Alum of the Year,” but was admittedly “surprised and a bit humbled” when she learned she was the recipient. However, she gives her time not for accolades, but to strengthen the alumni base.
“It helps set the tone of any school,” Cassa said. “It instills belief in current students and prospective students that if they man the hours, they will reap the rewards.”
Cassa is currently a research assistant and an instructor at the college. While attending CCCLA, she participated in a variety of student activities. Since graduating, she has continued her commitment to the college through her service to the alumni association.
