December 10, 2011 — Due to the recent media attention surrounding the questionable safety of fish oils because of the suspected content of PCBs and other toxins, consumers are more concerned than ever about taking a quality supplement.
The January 2012 issue of Consumer Reports conducted lab tests for 15 top-selling fish oil brands. After results were in, all 15 brands had their EPA and DHA content match their label claim and none exceeded U.S. Pharmacopeia limits for lead, mercury, dioxins, or PCBs. Carlson Laboratories Super Omega-3 Gems was one of nine brands that met the quality standards of the team that conducted the lab tests.
Kirsten Carlson, vice president of marketing for Carlson Laboratories, stated, “Maintaining high standards and producing quality products have been of the utmost important to us since my parents started our company in 1965. My father always said, ‘No one cares more about the quality of a product than the people who put their name on it.’ Carlson was founded on that philosophy and we continue to strive for excellence in everything we do and each product we make.”
All Carlson fish oil products are sent to an independent FDA-registered US laboratory for analysis. In addition to assaying to assure label amounts of EPA and DHA, several other quality tests are performed including freshness and purity tests. The freshness, potency, and purity of Carlson fish oils are always guaranteed.
