Book review: Chiropractic Riches

Chiropractic Economics September 21, 2011

Discover The Hidden Keys To Riches

By Daniel Sosnoski

Many successful chiropractors will tell you that the book Think and Grow Rich had a strong effect on their business philosophy. The story of how Think and Grow Rich, first published in 1937, became a business classic is the stuff of legend, yet it’s true: The industry magnate Andrew Carnegie helped a young journalist named Napoleon Hill set off on a journey to interview some of the most successful businesspeople of his day.

The goal was to discover whether there were basic principles, some common ideas that the truly successful shared as a group. These could then be simplified into a recipe that anyone could follow to achieve positive results in business.

Along the way, Hill spoke with leaders like Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Alexander Bell, George Eastman, John D. Rockefeller, and some 500 more. This much is well known. But you might be surprised to learn that Napoleon Hill had a close association with chiropractic from the beginning; it was largely his influence that helped define the modern DC entrepreneur.

Now, Drs. Matt and Trish Hammett have taken a similar approach with their book, Chiropractic Riches. They set out to interview a group of today’s most notable chiropractors, and obtain their thoughts on Napoleon Hill’s principles of success.

Readers will gain the impressions of such luminaries of the profession as Drs. Bob Hoffman, Fabrizio Mancini, Larry Markson, Patrick Gentempo, Jr., and many more. The authors ask follow-up questions to elicit even more information, and the result is a book that reinforces the key points of Think and Grow Rich by showing how the principles discovered by Napoleon Hill actually work in the chiropractic setting.

Of special interest is the introduction by Dr. James B. Hill, Napoleon Hill’s grandson. He explains the relationship between chiropractic and his grandfather’s work, putting Chiropractic Riches in clear context for the reader.

In the 150 pages of this book, one is likely to find inspirational quotes and touchstones with special resonance for wealth and success. Asked if success and riches are the same thing, Dr. John Demartini says, “I measure each individual’s successes and achievements according to their unique set of hierarchy of values.” He proceeds in detail to demonstrate that when people are acting on their highest values, they tend to outperform.

Dr. Bob Hoffman, asked about the affect that Think and Grow Rich had on his life, says, “I have myself, throughout my entire adult professional career, spent as much time as I can getting to know, meet, listen to, and learn from other dignitaries in the chiropractic profession.” Indeed, that is the purpose of this book: To let you meet and learn from some of the major figures in chiropractic and learn their formulas for living and rich and productive life.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of Chiropractic Riches will be donated to the Oklahaven Children’s Chiropractic Center, and the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress.

Chiropractic Riches can be obtained for $25 by going to the website www.chiropracticriches.com.
