BioCell Technology announces hire and expands nutraceutical research

Chiropractic Economics October 20, 2009

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — OCTOBER 19, 2009 – BIOCELL TECHNOLOGY LLC – BioCell Technology, LLC, announced today the appointment of Joosang Park, PhD (Stanford University), MBA (Cornell University), as Vice President of Scientific Affairs.  Dr. Park will be responsible for all R&D activities relating to the Company’s various patented and branded nutraceutical ingredients, including BioCell Collagen II and i-Sabi.
“Dr. Park brings a combination of technical experience, which includes decades of direct research at Harvard Medical School and Stanford University, and knowledge of business management — that will strengthen our marketing capabilities,” said Suhail Ishaq, Vice President of BioCell Technology.  “Having Dr. Park on our team makes our Company the leader in narrowing the gap between pharmaceutical research and practices and nutritional ingredients. With him, we bring to our industry true ‘nutraceuticals,’ holding scientific research as the premise of our offering.”

Dr. Park will focus on the further research of BioCell Collagen II and i-Sabi ingredients, and assist in developing new products for BioCell Technology.  “My excitement in joining the Company comes not just from our current and future products but from the vision shared among the Company’s executives. They do not just want to produce and sell dietary supplements in an effort to take advantage of a growing market potential. Rather, they want to continue to serve the customers with better products with real health benefits which are to be supported by the rigorous scientific research,” said Dr. Park.  “Their vision and entrepreneurial spirit has compelled me to join this team.”
“What is notable about BioCell Collagen II is that its safety and effectiveness as a dietary supplement has been shown in studies including clinical trials with human subjects. In particular, hyaluronic acid among the bioactive compounds reaches the systemic circulation after oral intake and is available at the site of action, as shown in bioavailability studies. The clinical trial with osteoarthritis patients showed that BioCell Collagen II was both safe and effective, as measured by the WOMAC. Although last ten years’ remarkable success implies its safety and efficacy, we remain committed to further research to ensure the safety and effectiveness of BioCell Collagen II in supporting the health of the joint and the skin and even in restoring the aged or damaged connective tissues,” said Dr. Park.
Dr. Park continues with his support of BioCell Technology’s newly launched wasabi japonica ingredient, which supports brain health, “I-Sabi is so unique in that its potential as a nutraceutical agent appears to be extraordinary. Research data from our own and other studies strongly support that bioactive compounds such as isothiocyanates in the wasabi rhizome extract can exert a diverse range of physiological effects including anti-oxidant, liver-protective, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, bactericidal and even neuritogenic activities. I’m thrilled about the further investigation we will conduct to disclose its nutraceutical potential.”
Dr. Joosang Park will be making his presentation, “BioCell Collagen II: A Natural Solution for Healthy Joints, Skin, and Aging,” at VendorWorks, Supply Side West Show, at 8am November 12, 2009, Supply Side West Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
